How do you feel about translations?
I have yet to find one which when compared to the original is not full of mistakes.
Made all the worse when you remember most ancient works have only reached us through a chain of translations, and the originals are lost.

My publisher sold one of my novels to foreign markets where it was translated. I speak a little German and I read that version and wanted to hang the bastard.

wait someone here is published??
I think you have a mental disorder.
I think it's pointless to compare a translation to the original, but many can be very fine works on their own merits.

Sad but true.
Sometimes they're alright. Sometimes they're horrible (usually the case with classical lit such as Greek or Roman). Sometimes, though rarely, the translation is an improvement. The Esperanto translation of Alice in Wonderland has more wordplay and is more effective because of the language's flexibility.
