Can we have a George Bernard Shaw thread?
What do you guys think of his work?

He's too liberal for me
Agate's says "Shaw's plays are the price we pay for Shaw's prefaces"
I agree

I find his early struggles to live of writing, to learn, to keep moving forward despite failures to be quite inspirational.
One can read a quick summary in Wikipedia:

He was almost 40 when he first was noticed by the public.
Finished Major Barbara today. Really good play, witty, funny, great characters.
Interplay between Undershaft and Adolphus was a pleasure to read, would love to see it live.
I had a quote book and remember his section being pretty good. He had a nice drab, morbid sense of humor it seemed.

Wasn't this the faggot who wrote about how we should justify our right to live and called Esther from Bleak House a sanctimonious hypocrite?Seems like he would be a good archenemy of Dickens.
