Has anyone every noticed the parallels between Ignatius from Confederacy of Dunces and Karl Marx?
Ignatius:
>doesn't work
>complains about his valve every day, to everyone
>fat
>slovenly
>leeches off his family and only friend, Myrna
>tries and fails to incite revolution
>despises everyone who hasn't entertained philosophy
>does nothing productive but write, but neglects publication for the most part
Marx:
>doesn't work
>complains about his carbuncles every day, to everyone
>fat
>slovenly
>leeches off his family and only friend, Engels
>tries and fails to incite revolution
>despises everyone who hasn't entertained philosophy
>does nothing productive but write, but neglects publication for the most part
Am I drawing an apt comparison? Has anyone else come to the same idea?
