Wrong thread mate.

it's kind of odd how anarchism influenced Mussolini in that pic, is that actually true?
>>
>>8121302
yep, Mussolini was the italian marxists and was the editor of their main newspaper. He fell out with the "maximalist" wing of the party because the maximalists were pacifists; they would be the only socialist party in Europe to not support their government during the war. On the other hand Mussolini advocated war so he got kicked out of the party, where he drifted in limbo for five years or so, in the mean time being kept afloat as a newspaper writer working as a stooge for an italian industrialist. But mussolini also read a lot about revolutionary syndicalism and would be influenced by Sorel, who was not your typical anarchist

would it be correct then to call fascism "far-right"?
>>
>>8121355
that's a very complicated question. A lot of the features you'd find in Nazi regimes were also found in Stalinist Russia, Maoist China, Nasserite Egypt, and the Baathist regimes of Saddam in Iraq and Bashar regime in Syria. One of the features of fascism though is that it was anti-liberal (i.e. civil rights and the rule of law, economic freedom, free press, perhaps a parliamentary or republican system) and anti-marxist, though it freely borrowed from both. It also didn't claim or seek to level equality like the Marxist regimes, but believed in a hierarchical society run by elites and technocrats. Another aspect is the extreme nationalism, which included the idea that society was an organic/almost spiritual unity that needed an authoritarian state to prevent its moral and cultural decay caused by decadent liberal democracy. The state would remold its citizen, gain total control over their lives and make them a body indistinguishable from the state itself. As Mussolini said "all within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state."

cont.
So I agree with the historians who call fascism a "right wing revolution." The fascists were obsessed with virility, created a cult of youth and reveled in violence. Violence to them was purifying, an act of unity and transcendence above morality. By default, then, fascists were socially conservative with regards to women and appalled by the elites of liberal democracy, who to them were old, ineffectual, cosmopolitan and corrupted. The fascist revolution would destroy this elite and replace it with the youthful, the strong, and above all men of action led by an all powerful leader. Strong leadership was central indeed. The leader would be unassailable, a superman elevated above the masses, but able to interpret their will and execute it through the organs of the state. He would restore national glory, eviscerate those elements of society that were the source of decadence; the criminals, the liberal elite, the communists, the press. The leader was also a visionary, a kind of artist whose position endowed him with creativity and led the masses with his overpowering charisma.

What separated the Fascist from the Monarchist anon? Was it simply title or was it the support of the church?

In my opinion at least fascism has only a few definable features, violence, nationalism, myth of state, and a strong leader being the key ones. It tends to mold everything else to the actual nation it's adopted into.
Hence it can take either right or left wing characteristics, or a combination of both.

So as for monarchy, I believe that fascists thought it similar if not indistinguishable from liberal democracy. This was the case in britain, where its monarchy was shorn of all political power as was the case elsewhere in Europe that copied her system. Italy's king still had powers but barely used them. The german emperor discredited himself when he he lost the great war. So really monarchy was part of the "older" generation which the fascists pitted themselves against.

The fascists' relations with the church varied from country to country. Several movements supported the church. The italians and germans accomodated it, but ultimately wanted to destroy it because it was beholden to an authority outside the state.
