I just finished Don Quixote and had a good cry over the ending

the Dead in Dubliners

Probably The Sound and the Fury a few months ago... it really broke me down.

Shook a bit over Jean Rhy's "Pioneers, Oh, Pioneers," but not to the point of bawling.

great expectations, infinite jest, libra,

No idea why but the beginning of David Copperfield when his mom dies I was fighting tears pretty hard. Especially when he went to the tailor to get his clothes made up for the funeral.

What thou lovest well remains,
the rest is dross
What thou lov’st well shall not be reft from thee
What thou lov’st well is thy true heritage
Whose world, or mine or theirs
or is it of none?
First came the seen, then thus the palpable
Elysium, though it were in the halls of hell,
What thou lovest well is thy true heritage
What thou lov’st well shall not be reft from thee

The ant’s a centaur in his dragon world.
Pull down thy vanity, it is not man
Made courage, or made order, or made grace,
Pull down thy vanity, I say pull down.
Learn of the green world what can be thy place
In scaled invention or true artistry,
Pull down thy vanity,
Paquin pull down!
The green casque has outdone your elegance.

“Master thyself, then others shall thee beare”
Pull down thy vanity
Thou art a beaten dog beneath the hail,
A swollen magpie in a fitful sun,
Half black half white
Nor knowst’ou wing from tail
Pull down thy vanity
How mean thy hates
Fostered in falsity,
Pull down thy vanity,
Rathe to destroy, niggard in charity,
Pull down thy vanity,
I say pull down.

But to have done instead of not doing
this is not vanity
To have, with decency, knocked
That a Blunt should open
To have gathered from the air a live tradition
or from a fine old eye the unconquered flame
This is not vanity.
Here error is all in the not done,
all in the diffidence that faltered . . .

I think it was The Brothers Lionheart.

What broke you down about it? Do you have sisters?

The Alchemist. There a line in there that hit me hard, 'when the whole world wants you to want something enough you will have it more than you want it'
>>
I teared up a bit the other day in The Brief History of the Dead, but the last book to really make me cry was probably The Age of Innocence. The one that made me cry the most was likely The House of Mirth.

I don't know how to cry
>>
>>8117423
Honestly, I've never cried from a book. The Death of a Salesman and of Mice and Men had me breathing heavy. But the only time I've really cried lately has been when when i was either writing a poem or piece of prose that hit very close to home.

Writing has actually helped me through my father's death and friend's suicide, made me understand it as a part of my life and not the end of it. I find it much easier to be honest with myself when i am alone in a quiet room while writing on paper than talking to someone. And i recommend it to anyone who is currently trying to get over or work through something.

I try writing but when I'm done I read it, cringe, and rip it up. I've done it with my diary, letters, old schoolwork. For some reason, i'm just not comfortable writing for/to myself
