Is there any practical reason to choose fiction over non-fiction, or do people just choose it because it's more "fun"?

Good fiction is art that explores the human condition.
Good non-fiction teaches you facts about the world.
They have entirely different purposes and should be treated as such. One isn't objectively better than the other.
