Is there a literary equivalent of this chart?

If not then besides DFW, who else would be on it?
>>
>>8102271
>using /mu/ as a benchmark
>>
Some of those artists, like alice in chains and biggie smalls, were already very popular before they died.
>>
Keats and Rimbaud are the prime examples
>>
>>8102271
im here just to call you a cunt.
>>
>>8102279
>Rimbaud
??? You serious?
DFW definitely would.
>>
>>8102289
Thing is DFW was 46. Like Virginia Woolf, hardly an 'early' death.

I would add Plath (30) to the list. Rimbaud (37) is about as old as I'd really say would be an 'early' departure
>>
Fuck off /mu/
>>
Plath (?)
>>
>>8102278
This.

Also, fuck off /mu/
>>
>>8102271
Rimbaud
DFW
Balzac
John Keats
>>
>>8102296
Maybe not an early death, but they got popular ONLY because they died.
>>
>>8102364
I think DFW was actually fairly well acknowledged in his time. Plath and Rimbaud definitely weren't.

But DFW definitely benefits from that Hemingway-esque artistic suicide romance.
>>
It's weird how death does this with people in any culture for some reason. So many awful artists' legacy was well and truly cemented due to their early death. It's not a nice way to think about it, but it's realistic. I mean, DFW, Rimbaud, Keats and a great many other celebrities (not only writers) weren't as great as we like to think of them. It's just the way of the world. Martin Luther King Jr was a womanizer and if JFK wasn't assassinated he'd probably be the most hated President of all time (seriously, if you think about all the shit he got us into and how he was focusing on being fucked during the Bay of Pigs he was a terrible, terrible POTUS) but because they died early we will always herald them.
>>
Wait, someone died in Women?
I thought the singer just had a falling out with the bassist and they split.
>>
>>8102514
Their guitarist and occasional singer.
>>
>>8102520
Huh, didn't know, thanks.

>>
>>8102546
46, is it really EARLY to die at that age? Are you getting ahead of yourself with your expectation of longevity m8?
>>
I guess "early" means before 50

Keats
Rimbaud
Wilde
Kafka
Hart Crane
Toole
Plath
Proust

>Angelic Process on this chart
I am legitimately mad
good bait
>>
>>8102296
I was referring more to popular because they died... not necessarily the early part. Rimbaud is an amazing poet to read while you're young. Even as an adult I still identify with him and feel more youthful reading his work. I would like to think he has a bit more apparent talent than loved because "Muh died early"
>>
>>8102364
>>8102372
>Rimbaud
He was well known in his time and he stopped writing way before he died, you're both retarded.
>>
>>8102769
Kafka was 40
>>
>>8102279
>>8102289
>>8102296
>>8103129
Rimbaud's early death isn't what stopped him from writing poetry, he just stopped by the time he was 21. so I don't think he counts.
>>
>>8102271
this is poor b8
alice in chains sold millions before staley died, and gil scott-heron was very well known prior to his (not *that* premature) death
i didn't even know anyone died in this heat
>>
this chart reminds me why /mu/ is total scum
>coil dying early
>dj rashad not already huge with people who actually listen to bleep
>tim buckley and not jeff buckley
fuck
>>
Whose the guy who wrote Girl With The Dragon Tattoo?
>>
>>8102271
>The Sound
>Sparklehorse
>Muslimgauze
>popular

Anyway, this (not that it's really /lit/)
>>
>>8102605
No, "early" doesn't only mean dying young, it also means dying before they got famous.
>>
>>8103211
Well, to be fair both Buckleys could qualify. The list is utter shit though. Why the hell is This Heat on there.
>>
keats is a boy...
>>
kafka was a JEW a fuckin JEW
>>
you are all just listing books

>>

>>

The guy from the Angelic proces didn't die, he cut his thumb off.

Also : Lermotov. I believe the poor fucker was in his twenties.
>>
>>8104211
>In October 2007, the band was put on hold indefinitely due to Kris Angylus' severe hand injury. Half a year later, on the 26th of April 2008, he fell victim to clinical depression and took his own life.
>>
>>8104216
Oh maaaaan.
Fuck.
Didn't know that. I'm gonna go give that album another listen.
Feels bad man.

Fun fact : Lermotov died in a duel after teasing and picking on guy untill the latter challenged him for a duel. Based Lermotov announced loudly he'd be shooting in the air, which is when the other guy straight up shot him in the chest.
>>
>>8104271
sounds like he was an idiot
>>
>>8104279
Which is exactly why he should be on the list.
Based rich russian idiot writers are fun-tier and you know it.
>>
Pessoa
>>
Gil Scott Heron died in his sixties...
>>
>>8104406

I was just thinking that. And his death can hardly have been said to have increased his popuarity - he was a legend anyway, we all had his albums at college and saw him live on that final tour.
>>
>>8103145
>>8102769
yeah and he did only get popular after he died. His books only being released then
>>
>>8102271
DJ Rashad was popular before he died.
Also get the fuck off of /lit/ and go back to /bleep/
