I listen to audiobooks when I drive to and from work. Also when I go walking/hiking. Never high-brow stuff, mostly trashy fantasy and sci-fi or lurid nonfiction like Devil in the White City or The Red Market. Audible is probably one of the better things I spend money on each month.

It takes the pleasure of reading away in my opinion.
I like to re-read a few times.

I agree drive 6 hours to and from work every fortnight. Cart sniffers think it's cheating or whatever but just using time wisely. Listening to enders game atm. Pretty good scifi. Way better than movie

seriously, there is no defending this.

My brain processes stories better when it's in audio format. When I read actual books, by mind hops all over the place, and I end up skimming or reading pages without actually taking them in. Plus, it allows me to draw at the same time and keep me focused, and some of them are good for lengthy drives.
>>8087145
drawing while listening to an audio"book" is like the definition of being a dumbass. you might as well be a 4 year-old getting read to before bed.
I listen to siddharta every night before I go to bed, it helps calm my mind. So basically this >>8087285

Well, someone obviously wasn't hugged enough as a child.
Nothing wrong with audio books really. A good balance between them and actual reading is sufficient to maintain high literacy and, in writers, a consistent voice.
I get the joke, but it's really just a question of semantics.
