Speed reading, I have two nieces aged five and six.
What literature do I need to teach them both to speed read?

Since this thread is up anyway I'll ask here, I figure phonics and pronunciation are more age appropriate subjects to work on. Is there a proven system anyone on /lit/ can recommend, preferably something that expands vocabulary as well.

anime is bad either way because retard weebs with brain damage are the ones who fansub it in broken english in the first place, and it would only be detrimental for kids who are still learning language.
best to stick with things for which official subtitles exist, or whick legit sites like addic7ed are covering.
Just introduce them to good childrens literature.
Speed reading is just technique + practice.
Practice comes from reading, technique is something to teach them later.

Somehow, placing a caption on this particular image is much worse than for most related situations where a picture suffices. "Explaining the joke" is much worse this time around, and it doesn't seem to have been done for a subtle double-reverse troll effect.
I think it's because of the obvious simplicity of what the picture had already said, without words. A kid can understand the image. So adding the caption not only suggests that the person who did it is very dumb, but it makes us feel dumber too for having read it.
