10/10 movie taste
Should add Shadow of the Colossus to games and Low to albums.
I think Lolita and Blood Meridian make better choices for books too.
I'm assuming this is either "babies first serious X" or "gateway to serious X" depending on your level of derision.

Millennium Actress is probably the better film, but I like Perfect Blue More.

>>8052205
>Passion Pit
I like it.
My tastes make few sense but that's how it is.
You are right OP.
The things are in their proper categories.
>>8052266
When there are weird choices I usually take that as a sign you at least have a developed taste. I really wish I knew as much about music and film as I do about literature, because I kind of just listen to whatever.
>>8052277
It's better to stick with a few media and be cultured rather than knowing little about everything. I've dropped video games, TV series and movies long ago. I prefer to read, listen to music and appreciate paintings.
>>8052292
Yeah, I try to watch as little tv and movies as I can, unless it's more of a social thing or it's a rare occasion where I'm really interested in a film. I used to spend far too much time playing Counter Strike until last month, when I decided to stop. Overall it's been a pretty positive change. Do you have any music recommendations from what I have up there? It's Grimes- Halfaxa and Visions, then Passion Pit - Chunk of Change. Grimes is eh, but I really like her as a person.
>>8052309
Different anon, but you might enjoy Cocteau Twins and Yo La Tengo.
>>8052328
Thanks, I'll check them out :)
I have no real taste in film/television because I find them to be boring mediums in general.

>>8052626
Mostly mediocre material but there's hope.
>>8052630
Honestly music was the only one where I had a lot to choose from.
>>8052645
Then why are you here?
>>8052645
I'm sorry but that's the field I wish you to leave as soon as possible. Overall, judging from this chart, I would say you're a sixteen years old teen, with some social anxiety and too much angst. You should try to open your mind and listen to something else, whether it is hip hop, blues, rock, jazz or whatever. At best you may trade the Scandinavian stories with English/German poetry and slowly heal from fantasy. I'm only surprised you don't like “Vikings”, “Game of Thrones” or similar series. You should as well stop watching TV, it consumes way too much time.

It's great, but it's not better than NOTM or Exmillitary. Definitely better than Government Plates and Jenny Death though.
I don't visit 3x3 threads as I'm still a pleb. When I improve my taste a bit I'll start visiting maybe. This summer I'll watch a lot of movies, because I'll be having enough free time.

I just received Laurus, is it any good? The cover kinda ruined my appetite because it had 'omg it's the russki name of the rose!!!' blurb reviews everywhere
>>8056448
Depends on what you are expecting from it. It explores the syncretism between folkish and Orthodox mysticism and muses on the sacred and profane (fun fact: in a particular scene a plastic bottle is included as a nod to atemporality).
Since this book is akin to a biography, I don't think this qualifies as a spoiler, but the closing lines I've found to be brilliant(half-assedly translated by yours truly):
"You've been on our land for a year and eight months already", Averki the blacksmith responds, "yet you haven't understood anything of him(Lazarus)."
"But you(Russians) understood him?", asks Siegfried.
"We?" The blacksmith thinks for a bit and stares at Siegfried. "Well, neither did we understand."
Just like the Balkanic man of Kazantzakis (Zorbas, Michalis), there is a sort of deeper irony for a people of an 'irrational' living in which wisdom is derived from instinct.
Also, pic-related, better Romanian cover.
>>8056491

>>8056580
The evolution of the protagonist sterns from tragedy, so I don't think 'fun' would be the proper word.
Think of it as a sort of a spiritual Bildungsroman. The journey towards sainthood of a tragic protagonist and its clearly defined stages (in which the discarding of one's name is a recurring motif).
As for exciting, intellectually depending on the reader. The book itself has a grave tone all throughout the narrative.
I'd kind of describe it as a concise 'neo-Dostoyevskan' work.
By the way, I'd also recommend "Captain Michalis: Freedom and Death" and "Zorbas the Greek" by Nikolas Kazantzakis, "Broken April" and "The General of the Dead Army" by Ismail Kadare and to a lesser extent "The Tartar Steppe" by Dino Buzzati for somewhat similar modern works.
