Though I have not read the book myself, Emily Bronte wrote one of the greatest novels of the 19th century and Wuthering Heights is greater than any armchair Russian navel-gazing. My IBP English Honors class ruined this book for me
My teacher was always reading too much into passages, making us exagerate project our inner feelings into Brontë's book that it is impossible to enjoy the book as plainly a Gothic romance novel. I'm no fan of novels, but I don't mind enriching my soul in a little daddy-issue book.
