I found that article very persuasive. His choices for comparison really do show P&V at their weakest.
I've never been tempted to read Russian literature before, but the excerpts in that article were very compelling.

Why is this thread a disaster? Any Iliad translation thread will give the best 5 translations within a few posts, and the only translators mentioned here are P & V and Garnett so far.
