Essential horror?
I don't mean Steven King normie tier shit, I'm looking for the H.P. Lovecraft type shit, horror with actual thought applied, like Clive Barker shit. House of Leaves type shit.
post it nigga
Horror is less scary than real life. Obvious fantasy fails to scare me. And Satan doesn't exist :(.

I disagree, I find horror these days to be something of an art form. To really truly scare someone, especially by today's standards is incredibly difficult, but it can absolutely be done with the right skill and originality.
is it a guy or a girl, that one without an umbrella?
also i believe if chtulhu went to new york, the american navy would fight him!

Yea but lets be honest, the navy would lose.
Yes the Cthulhu depicted in "The Call Of Cthulhu" was a little weak by today's standards, but the core concept behind Cthulhu is that he is an unkillable eldritch horror, he's more of a concept than an actual creature
The only thing that I can think of that really sent the shits up me is the Willows by Algernon Blackwood. Maybe the Wendigo by Blackwood too

VERY true. People are less superstitious hence why you get drab horror such as Unfriended.
Jump scares like Paranormal Activity.

If you want more Lovecraft read The King in Yellow by Chambers
