As long as it's not degree level or over, doing a generic meta piece might actually impress given how bad lit teachers are at keeping up with trends. Try not to just list events, but actually link, explore, and try to justify them. And make sure to polish what you write, even if that means writing less. If it seems unpolished then it's going to sound like you're just making it up, as opposed to speaking clearly and creatively.
Or just do nothing and accept the terrible mark you deserve.
