the whole book is an allusion to how American life equates to phases and parts of the game as well as scandals and major events relating to it's history; however, knowledge of It isnt entirely necessary to understand and enjoy Underworld, but it is, with more technical know-how-and-what of off season politics, as well as having played and felt the experience, gone to a couple of games with a friend whom with you share passionately a credence for your local team of childhood, can make the reading an incredibly sweet American experience,an Americana of sorts.

DeLillo gets better with age. Seriously. End Zone, The Names, and Players are all really good. White Noise was the masterpiece. Mao II and Libra weren't failures, but they're weak and watery af. Underworld is p good. Despite its page count, The Body Artist is a more mature and interesting meditation on language than The Names or Players imo. Cosmopolis is ok. The stories are great shit. Point Omega is fucking sweet.
