What books will cure my social anxiety? I only have it in new situations and when I have to do interviews or talk about myself in front of people I don't know.

Dubs confirm.

Books can help you understand what social interactions are about or how psychology works, hence how you can apply it yourself but no amount of knowhow will ever be as effective as the most dumb conversation you could have.

Books which would teach you meditation and mindfulness may help, both for handling the stress when in the actual anxiety inducing situations as well as some of the underlying insecurities which feed into them while outside of them. No book will cure it, however. The only real thing you can do is to expose yourself to what is causing you this problem, little by little. You get over anxiety literally by building up an immunity to the stressful stimulus. Having a well developed and knowledgeable insight into the issue won't help you as the problem isn't an intellectual one, it's purely emotional.

Look into CBT,ACT, Mindfulness Workbooks.

cock ball torture helps with social anxiety?

lmao put down the books and go outside my dude

>I only have it in new situations
Well then, I think you found your own cure: Keep putting yourself in new situations.
>>
OP it sounds like a reasonable request but think of other possible questions. "What book will help me learn to play tennis?" "What book will help me run faster?" "What book will help me lift heavier weights?" These are ridiculous questions for anyone who is not either a complete zero skill retard or a complete master.

No such thing. I have a severe social anxiety, sometimes it gets better - and I even thought I was finally "cured" once, but if you don't face your problems it's never going to go away, you're only going to get worse.

That's not a cure

Fuck CBT

I've been in therapy for years and done every CBT thing I can and it doesn't help at all. Good for all of those plebs who don't suffer from legitimate SAD but for those of us who do, it's bullshit.

no books will cure it, what a silly idea
>>
The cure, in no particular order is:

1) Not giving a fuck (about what somebody might think of you when you do x, y, or z). No shaming techniques work on you: you do not blush and feel comfortable in your own skin (this is a cure in itself: being comfortable in your own skin which means that you are not disturbed by people, however many, around you. How you feel around strangers or people that you know should be how you feel when you are alone) when you're accused of something (in their minds) illegal or immoral.

2) Being less observant (quit thinking that somebody is observing you, among other things)

3) You should be able to carry out all of your bodily/physical actions in one continuous movement. E.g. when you commit yourself to sit down in a chair you sit down on the fucking chair and do not doubt your decision. Doubt it, if you have to, after you've sat down.

4) Exposure to social situations, of any kind, of course accelerates 1-3.

Biggest lie I was ever told. Getting a job and interacting with my co-workers made my self confidence much lower than it is was before as now I am regularly reminded of my shyness and inability to do something that comes naturally to most people.

Are there any books with characters dealing with SAD?

>What books will cure my social anxiety?
The total of http://heartiste.wordpress.com/ explains social interaction between humans better than any book on psychology I've read. Take it with a grain of salt, but not a big one. The TL;DR is that it's all about (perceived) status to which the principle of faking it before you make it very much applies.
>>
>>7907414

Thanks for clearing that up doctor. Did you read it on the internet?

How do I do this? You sound like you know what you're talking about, anon.
>>
>>7905110
Rhodiola, one cup of espresso, maybe half a spoon of powdered theanine. Or MDMA on a night out.

But yeah, if you don't go out and actually meet people then no external stimuli will help.
>>
>>7905110
Try losing weight. I lost 40 lbs and am slightly more confident. Slightly.
>>
>>7907610

You're fucking shitting me.

OP, heartiste is literally soul poison. It is nothing but standard tard-teen issue PUA reductionism, but it is written by a sociopath demagogue.

I know intricately what he is about because I used to buy in to it. Most shameful thing in my life.

He's a literal sociopath. All his followers are total losers. Even if you accept his advice, you wont be able to apply it unless you're a sociopath yourself.
>>
>>7907636
You _shouldn't_ apply his advice, at least not most of it, especially if you suffer from social anxiety. What you should do (if you're male, which is a fairly safe assumption with OP) is read him to learn what is perceived as high- and what is perceived as low-status. Based on my experience, his analyses are quite accurate. Developing an eye for status will give you insight into how other people see you and each other, which in turn will reduce how uncertain you feel in social situations.
>heartiste is literally soul poison.
Only, as you said, if you're a sociopath yourself. If you aren't it won't make you one; it won't even make you a douchebag. If anything, reading CH and the blogs from his blog roll will help you notice when sociopaths and wannabe bullies try to play their games with you that you may not have noticed or understood before.

If you're a diagnosed asparagusian then people are always going to be able to tell something isn't quite right. You can make it less noticeable with practice, though.
>>
>>7907389
That's stage 1, anon. It gets better the more often you do it. Improving your physical attractiveness (fit and fa) helps a little bit too.

OP is asking about social anxiety, not self-confidence, the two are different.

> I am regularly reminded of my shyness and inability to do something that comes naturally to most people.

shyness and anxiety aren't related either.

You have secondary mental problems that have nothing to do with this thread.
