It's pretty funny.
But I wouldn't list it as a literary classic.
/lit/ will feign a vague contempt for Ellis, but in reality this is a pretty good novel. Its pervasive wit qaongside its ( albeit shallow) social commentary still makes it an entretaining book. Yea, it's not Moby fucking Dick but it's a good book and worth the read.

It takes a long time for a book's true literary value to really emerge. I think in a hundred years, when all is said and done, and we've got robots walking robot dogs on leashes of internet-connected spider's silk, I think American Psycho will be utterly forgotten and read by no one.
