“The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.” – Albert Einstein

Nah the most important one is deciding whether it's worth living at all.

OT though, I believe the universe to be indifferent. You might perceive some things to be friendly or hostile to you but it's largely relative unless directly expressed.

This is not remotely related to literature. Please delete this thread and then yourself.
>>
>>7888975
IDK it relates quite nicely to a decent amount of literature/philosophy.
>>
>>7888978
Unless it is explicitly related to literature, specific works of philosophy, or the board itself, it is not allowed and should not be posted.

Oh fuck, better tell the mods, someone's breaking the rules. This is almost as bad as that time someone used a comma splice when clearly a semicolon was correct.
>>
>>7889001
Cry about it, why don't you. That'll make you look like less of a faggot.
>>
>>7889010
You're the one crying here, friend. Literally crying like a little bitch because you're nothing but a stupid little bitch, bitch. Absolutely pathetic little bitch. Stay bitchy. Bitch.

>friendly or hostile universe
Sound really stupid, why would he say anything like this?
>>
I suppose it's true that your experience in the universe is largely determined by your perception of circumstances, events, and people/human nature.

The universe is non moral, eisensteinawitz

Reported you guys for violating Rule #3:
You will not post any of the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry") or grotesque ("guro") images, post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography.

It's against the rules to announce reports. You're going to jail, bucko.

For every brainfarts out there: universe is most likely a metaphor for the world - for the 2x brainfarts that still don't get it: he means your view on life is either good or bad (in short).

Truly baffles me how people can believe otherwise.

Well, given his stated resistance to the probabilistic universe implied by the then-burgeoning field of quantum physics (cf. "God does not play dice with the universe"), it is somewhat ironic (situationally) that he would opine on the power of interpretation. Einstein's philosophical and political essays, though, are very much worth reading, and his insight into human society still applicable.

Why would that be "ironic"? You have no idea what you are talking about, do you?

Existence is a struggle against entropy. On a metaphysical level every moment I persist in existing rather than surrendering to the gradual decay of the universe is an act of war against nature itself.

In light of this, isn't the mundane violence of culture against culture, army against army trivial? Why protest violence between men when we are powerless to prevent violence between man and God? These things must be accepted as part of our struggle to understand our role in the cosmic suicide that is existence.
