I guess I'm having a similar struggle right now. On one hand, I can watch tv and read 4chan simultaneously while switching through tabs and checking on my phone, constantly switching between entertainment.
On the other, I can sit still and read, but find my attention drifting because I've let multimedia take control of my mind.
