kill me
I struggle with this too. I've been getting some books and trying to read lately, but it is just very hard. Once I really get into it I enjoy it but somehow it is hard to get into. I find myself going back to children's books simply because they are easier to read and lets demanding on my mind.

it's very easy to get back into reading. here's how you can do it in two simple steps:
1- pick up book
2- read it
i hope that helped.
start with the greeks.
>>7880285
The key is finding books you enjoy reading, then it doesn't feel like a chore. So yea, pick a book off of this picture.
>>7881529
huh
Saw pic related at a bookstore (Vienna) last week and had to photograph it
Didn't think I would find reason to post it soon
Fuck Jaden. Reminds me when I was a 16yo sperg, I didn't tap anything.

Depressed? How do you conclude?
To be honest, a guy with weak philosophical insights he post on twitter - this I like more than any sporty bro that doesn't think at all. He'll mature
pick any one of these books and get to reading.

If you had a high school education worth anything at all, you've already read everything here except for ACO, Psycho, Lolita and Siddhartha. (and if you were a bookish teenager, you probably read those too)
Are we just pandering to underage kids now?
>>7882267
excellent point, counterpoint
>American education
In other words, yes, we must pander to the underage kiddies. Just because we think they should have a basic foundation doesn't mean they do. We must start from the beginning and establish this basic foundation (even if it does seem redundant) so that they will have what is necessary to begin actually building. My greatest hope is to be surpassed by those that come after me, this cannot be done if they are crippled from the beginning.

Looks like Milli Vanilli.
>>7882267
Nah in England we don't read half of these, still read most of 'em though
>>7882267
it's the starter kit, you enormous faggot
>>7882435
That's a good point. I started browsing /lit/ as an 18 year old, and I already had a decent foundation in literature.
It never occurred to me that 15-17 year olds would browse here.
>>7884016
That was my secondary point. That even if you didn't read these in school, an average bookish teenager would still have read most of these by the time he's 18.
>>7884038
Maybe if you're 14 years old. At least where I live, these books are a part of the standard English curriculum. Let me break it down.
>Sometime in primary school: Adventures of Huck Finn
>English 9: Of Mice and Men, Lord of the Flies, Slaughterhouse 5, To Kill a Mockingbird
>English 10: 1984, BNW, F451
>English 11: Great Gatsby, Catch-22, The Catcher in the Rye
>AP Lit: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Picture of Dorian Grey, Invisible Man
>Books that literally have a popular movie adaptation, so you have no excuse: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, American Psycho, Fear and Loathing, A Clockwork Orange
>the book your one asian friend loved, and you wanted to impress her so you read it: Lolita
