I'm having a tough time deciding which book to start reading first. Can you help me out?
>George Orwell "1984"
>Adams "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy"
no, since it doesn't matter, just read whichever you prefer

1984. It's much shorter compared to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which is actually the first book in it's series. The others being:
The Resteraunt at the End of the Universe, Life, the Universe, and Everything
So Long and Thanks for all the Fish
Don't Panic.
All of them have upwards of twenty five chapters. With Don't Panic being the shortest at twenty five and the finality of the series and So Long and Thanks for all the Fish having 40 plus and epilogue chapter.

Wow, that's probably the best Hitchhiker's cover I've ever seen.

If you want to laugh, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will do well. Good book.

>dzordz
cute

i would recommend 1984 first, but either book is great so whichever you feel like
drop them both and read a book that isn't shit
neither is good but at least hitchhiker's isn't such depressing shit
But that's not Chaucer, Villon, or Cavalcanti?!

It's a fairly blatant copy of the Discworld cover style. Makes sense, since the earliest Discworld books were basically 'Hitchhiker's Guide, but fantasy'.

>know enough English to post fluently on a Tahitian Pressed Flower forum
>read English books translated into Polish or Romanian or whatever Eastern European language that is
why.jpg. Especially Hitchhiker's, because there's no way even half of the jokes will translate well.

not even good shitposting

not OP, but I don't see a problem in reading books in your native language.
If you only know english, then a big chunk of the books are translated from their native language, and that doesn't stop you from reading them.
Oh and the language on the cover is bosnian/croatian/serbian

I love Dzordz Orvel.
Neither. Read Brave New World by Huxley. You'll probably be scared by how close to the truth he is
Someone please explain to me why it's an either/or situation with these two books. The impression I'm getting here is that OP is saying "should I listen to the Beatles or the Rolling Stones"
>can understand English
>reads translations

My professor assigned 1984 and said Orwell has better prose than Huxley.

Holy fuck Poland I love you

Almost willing to agree. Ditch Bitchers Audio Tour to the Universe is at least good. 1984 is pretty whatever. Book is over rated and has no re read value. Didn't like when I was a sophomore in high school. Still don't like it now.

This is not Polish.
Polack here and I have never seen an author name translated in my whole life. But if so, it would be hilarious.
Hitchhiker's guide and the sequels are some of the most fun books ever written. If you like lighthearted stuff that's pretty absurd, check it out

It's Serbian.
