I like keeping track of what, and how much I read for future goal setting and what books I'd like to revisit.
look up top books to see what the average community member is like
I have one. Do people use it as a social network? If so, I'd like to add some litizens. Post your Goodreads profile.

generally sebastian or any other goodreads' user will make a thread and share their accounts.
You could start the thread, btw. Or wait for one to appear.

How social is goodreads? Is it like last.fm?
>>7866516
Honestly, literature should not be publicly available.
The vast majority are simply not worthy.

This, and finding new books. Obviously not by consulting those shitty popular lists, but this site is very useful for it if you use it in the right way.

Seems to be that people hate victorian era books about colonization for some reason.
>Half of the reviews about Machiavelli's "The prince" are written in arabic

I don't really want to get off.
What is it? Is it like librarything? Cause I use that and not goodreads. I don't post on the forums though cause I saw it had some weird off topic feminist board and I had no idea what that had to do with reading/literature.
I like it because it shows general "what new books people are reading" things, which is obviously more useful for history than it is for novels, but I read more history than novels, so that works for me. Also good for keeping track of what you've read, as people have mentioned. I go through computers enough that it's easier than having a spreadsheet or word document.

I use paper for that so what is the advantage of spreadsheets?
