If you like literature this is all good books. Maybe not page-turners, because it might be slow reading, but you don't want to stop.

Not him but a page turner is a book that you sit down to read and you get so engrossed in it that you keep reading page after page without even realizing it. I would imagine that the opposite of a page turner is a book that you frequently have to put down and stop reading before you can continue.

There's no inherent opposition, it's just that pageturners tend to be crime novels or pop stuff, while The Western Canon deals with deeper questions about the meaning of life but is less easily entertaining.
