who are your colleagues?

I would say never trust people on the internet, but i would imagine it's just as foolish to trust people in real life

So, do I need to fill you in on how they were, or...? Seriously, I'm really new to the site, I have no fucking idea of what's going on here, and it's been a long day. Halp...
>>
>>7853707
I hope you didn't get demotivated by /lit/. Most people on 4chan have shit tier opinions. Relatively low population specialist boards have even shitter tier opinions.

Okay. Here's from a project I worked on, way back when I was 14, as a gift to my dad. Oh, and, pardon the Christian elements, my dad was a priest.

A song. Quiet and blank. Not a single string to strum. Not a single drum to hit. A musical piece, barren and incomplete. Not until the author knits a smile. One that whispers a truthful “Goodbye.” Not until a thousand tears are shed in a day. Half shed honestly and half shed falsely. Not until the pearly gates creek and crack, granting entrance to the man. Not until The Father bids him hello and holds tightly the son He rightfully owns.

The song was sung by a bard. A shameful one. A lonely one. One who only spoke of nothing. The bard dons a brown robe and a black cap. He walks the land, singing the undone tale. Though he knows the song is a far cry from perfection, he takes pride in doing so, knowing that the tale is true.

The song retold the tale of sweat and tears. A tale of labor and death. A tale of a lonely drift of wood, creeping against the rushing waters of a waterfall. A man with a pen, writing scars upon his skin, as he journeys across the land of chaotic horror and roaring storms.

And until the song is completed, until his skin is dripping with the ink of the stories he wrote, he must carry the growing cross upon his shoulders. He must feed gold into the mouths of his blood; mine for gold in a dry puddle of leaves; hold up the flag he had crafted throughout the years. But he does it carrying a smile upon his face. For he knows that The Father held his hand, guiding him along the path to the wealth and smiles they had promised for him.

When I said it was shit, I wasn't lying, see?

Hey, uh... one last thing. What's the standard poetic language skills for the average writer? English isn't my first language, so, I wouldn't know. Could you point me to a book or maybe an excerpt from a poem to give an example? Thanks in advance.
>>
>>7853877
First lesson: Stop comparing yourself to the average writer
>>
>>7853844
Thought: your teachers judge it in terms of "potential", where folks online judge it as is. As is you're trying too hard, good prose is effortless. You haven't said anything in that section but thought if you could dress it up it wouldn't matter. It does. Your teachers may like the way you're dressing it up, but fact is writing should never obfuscate, it takes a skilled writer to pull that off and you're just developing and feeling it out. One thing you should never do: stop developing it. It's very easy to lose momentum and very hard to get it back. Doubts are natural when writing and help in some cases but you should never let them stop you completely. Take pride in the fact that you're inexperienced, you can only get better.
>>
>>7853911
Got it. Wait, my teachers?
>>
>>7853884
No, I'm just trying to set a goal.
>>
I got in the car and started back to town. I had just turned onto the street when I saw a ford coming helling toward me. All of a sudden it stopped. I could hear the wheels sliding and it just slewed around and backed and whirled and just as I was thinking what the hell they were up to, I saw that red tie. Then I recognized her face looking back through the window. It whirled into the alley. I saw it turn again, but when I got to the back street it was just disappearing, running like hell.

Critique the latest paragraph I wrote.

This is what faggots who don't understand the 4chan criticism process think
If you can't look at someone's opinion on your piece, take what you think is valid, throw out what you think is stupid, and then potentially change your piece you're weak willed
If you come here and completely change your style you're weak willed

Fucking faggits
>>
>>7853998
Ah, so that's how you do it...
Thank you, senpai.

Just needs editting desu
>A song. Quiet and blank. Not a single string to strum. Not a single drum to hit.
this could become
>A song, quiet and blank, strings unstrung and drums unhung.
>>
>>7853707
>goosebumps

so they were comparing you to RL Stine?
that's not so bad

>fuck popular opinion
>do awesome shit anyway
stop basing your motivation on other people OP
motivate yourself, and do it now while you're young and flexible
>now god dammit!!
>>
>>7854013
Rhyming... got it.
>>
>>7854018
No, just goosebumps in general. Like when you hear a good song. Still don't know how they got the goosebumps, though. It was just a gay love story. Like, literally a gay love story. Still, thanks for the motivation.

Feels really weird getting motivation from 4chan. But, hey, it's good.
>>
>>7854030
yeah, there are people on this board that don't automatically denigrate everything they see

a few... very few.. in fact, I think I might be one amongst a mere handful.. I think we mostly hang around /sp/

round about the point, I'm an old fucker, so I give zero fucks about other people's negative opinions.. opinions = assholes and so forth

Fuck what other people think, most people are blithering idiots or worse, and the internet only serves to narrow and magnify their shitty negativity.. so place your own perception ahead of others.. it's not novel or new or bold, it's survival of the fittest.. adapt and evolve

It's what gave us fire, bread and television, it can make you a better, more confident author and presenter

>now damn ou
>>
>>7853707
Asks people on the internet if he can trust the opinion of people on the internet..
>>
>>7854042
Shit, you should host a motivation podcast or something.

Irony has always been a friend of mine. Besides, it's faster to get answers by doing something wrong instead of actually asking. Just like that time I wanted to test the legitimacy of a website by actively baiting people into looking at said site.
>>
>>7854044

i used to be an NCO in the air force, so I've had a lot of practice

actually have to reign myself in sometimes, start getting over zealous and lose track of the original point

btw, I did say now, right?
