It's a shame most italian literature hasnt got international fame.
I am surely biased here, but Pavese it's the best writing I have ever read.

I'm really fixated on early '900s literature.
Italian and American, mostly.
Pavese, Moravia, Vittorini, Buzzati, Calvino, Svevo, Kerouac, Henry Miller, Fitzgerald.

But that's just the authors that I read compulsively. For the rest I read a bit of everything.

È come usa la paratassi, è la capacità di sintesi che ha. Ha un modo di ficcare il mondo in ogni frase che mi ha sempre lasciato a bocca aperta.

Nella prima pagina de La Casa in Collina, scrive "Non avevo tristezze, sapevo che nella notte la città poteva andare tutta in fiamme e la gente morire" ed in venti parole c'ha messo tutto il romanzo.
Sembra poco, ma raramente ho trovato altri che riuscissero a farlo con la costanza e tenacia con cui lo fa Pavese.

A fare l'avvocato del diavolo non si potrebbe dire che se riesce con questa facilità a rinchiudere tutto il romanzo in una frase, il romanzo non ha poi così tanto da dire?
