oh hey its our bi-monthly "shit on Hesse cause i've only read Siddhartha/Steppenwolf and I want to be edgy" thread, a week ahead of schedule!

I've read most of his longer work, personal favorites are Beneath the Wheel (read when I was in a similar life-stage to the main character) and The Glass Bead Game (because I love systems that value knowledge for the sake of knowledge).

Narcissus and Goldmund was a bit too artificially constructed for me with both characters representing polar opposites.

I've read Steppenwolf and Siddhartha too late in my life, I feel like Hesse got popular too quickly so he got stuck in the adolescent mindset (always searching for something).
