What We Did to Father was pretty good
Stephen Baxter's Evolution had some chapters from the perspective of pre-historic humans and pre-humans, but I'd hesitate to call it good. I recall it being mildly euphoric in the way sf novels by engineers often are, and the prose is probably pretty stale. I did enjoy them a lot as a teen though.
