A girl once asked me what's the one book I would bring with me if I ever got stuck on a deserted island. I said the World Almanac, because it has everything I'd ever need to know. She said I was being autistic. She said pick something else, a real book, so I said the complete works of Shakespeare. She said you can't do the complete works of someone because that would be cheating. I said I knew, which is why I had picked the World Almanac. The World Almanac rules. It has everything you ever need to know.

What would you pick?

"How to build a raft"

Never read it. Is it any good?

This question gets asked a lot, but it's so easy. The answer is The Dictionary. Other books have some of the words, but The Dictionary? It's got em all.

Pornography

I'd bring something by Schopenhauer or maybe The Conspiracy Against the Human Race so at least I'd feel good about perishing by myself

The plot's a bit basic but well enough tied together that it stays afloat. It's very optimistic too; really put wind in my sails.

The Bible desu
And I would use the pages from the boring parts to roll fat blunts.

The Völuspá

Clearly she intended to keep moving the goalposts until you picked "The Alchemist", and then she was going to sleep with you. However, your stubborn autism is worthy of far more respect than a cheap fling with plebina, so dont feel bad about it.

Puns aren't funny. But if you enjoy them, there's a website that is 99% puns. They even make endless permutations on the same shitty, unfunny and forced initial pun.

I now strongly desire a book that uses raft building as an allegory.

>cheap fling

Is the cost of your self-respect and dignity really cheap?

Kon Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl

I'd go with the Bible or the full Norton version of Shakespeare
>>
Don Quixote. Good funny and long enough to where by the time I finish the damn thing I've more or less forgot the beginning so I could reread it endlessly.

Puns are cute if they're done at an appropriate moment. If you do it in a smug way, announcing your comedic genius to a wide audience, then it's a bit obnoxious.

somehow the fact that his theory was proven wrong is even better

reading it now for the first time... this shit is so fuckin comfy

> For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Infinite Jest

Moby Dick.
Because being stuck on a dessert island is the only way I'd finish reading that whaling encyclopedia

That'd be a pretty sweet set up.

The Bible.
easy question

Yeah, it'd be a tasty treat on one of those islands.

Are there really islands that look like this? Is survival feasible on one?

Yes and yes. The one thing that might be hard would be getting enough water. You'd need at least a tarp and a container.
