They read YA quasiromances about socially awkward protags who are frustrated by how socially awkward everyone else is. Then they graduate to books about hard working women who keep getting held back by the man. Then (iftheystillread) they move on to the ones where women get held down by them man.
Vonnegut, H.G. Wells, Murakami, Philip K. Dick, DFW, and Kafka are a few authors I've read in the past couple months. always looking for more.
