I feel like this is going to be a hard request. I'm looking for a book that explains or at least gives insight into the BDSM mindset, specifically from the perspective of the Dom without needing to get into the specifics. And I'm not looking for mommy-porn 50 Shades of Gray tier shit. What I'm looking for is a sort of Lolita perspective, but instead of kiddy diddling, it's BDSM.

I mean it's in the name. Dominance is what it's about. The pride of ownership. Making the nature of that relationship EXTREMELY clear

No books 4u soz

Movie recommendation for you: The Duke of Burgundy

Looks hot, but seems like it gives off more of a "Let's break traditional gender roles" vibe than it does explaining a dominating psychology.

I could be wrong. I'll check it out when I get home.

Can't really help you there, your best bet might actually be some of the higher rated stories on sites such as xnxx or literotica, a lot of it is lazy smut but the better-written stuff can really give you an insight into the mindset.

Also, given your Cohen picture:

Found the particular story from one of those sites I was hunting down, this is hardly a book but it's a story in fifteen parts from the Dom's perspective of him training a 16 year old girl, I first encountered this one years ago and it has stuck with me, not out of mere titillation either:

Not the author of that post, but would like to chime in;
Somewhere in Act 1, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo laments to Benvolio that although he's (Romeo) physically present, he's not actually there, he's 'some other where'.

So yeah, if a Shakespeare and one anonymous internet poster have used it, that alone is enough to make it become a word.

there's literally no male characters in the movie what does it have to do with gender

OP, /lit/'s assumption (and, possibly, the presumption behind your prompt) is that you want to engage with fictional narratives. /lit/ usually concerns itself with speculative and artistic fiction, but /lit/ as a board properly considered, admits of any booky-stuff. New moot made this pretty clear in a clarifying post, last I checked: if it's book-type-stuff, discussion is welcome here.

However, you yourself have been very specific and technical about what you want, which leads me to believe that not only do you want to fuel the imagination, but that you would like a practical how-to. That you actually want to talk shop about RL BDSM practice. to that end, I suggest that that you look up Jay Wiseman and Dossie Eaton's books on the subject.

The subculture as experienced in North America is very "SJW" these days, and it is loaded with white middle class fatties between the ages of 20 and 60, depending on your area. There's plenty of dudes which is probably not to your taste, if you're a straight guy. And yet, the people who choose to stay involved (showing up to events and such), in spite of breakups, tend to share a basic value system: don't kill, don't rape, or if accusations fly around, report to authorities and expel.

There are two commonly accepted bits of knowledge. One is that, if you aspire to top, you will need to bottom for someone, preferably multiple times. "Bottoming" has both a directly sexual (not necessary) and BDSM-physical aspect. Even a big domly dom I am acquainted with has described in private company how he bottomed, coming up, although it's not his temperament. The second , more practical consideration is that in the interest of self-preservation, you need to comport yourself, in the simplest word, "honorably". This just means knowing what you did and when, and /not doing wrong by anyone that you should choose to top./. BDSM, being what it is, makes this extremely murky, which is why I steer you toward the above "RL mechanics" literature.

I honestly am interested in it from a literary perspective. I'm talking about the mindset of the dom, not necessarily the intricacies of his fetishes. I'm aware of my own local Bdsm community (went to a munch, not even once).

And to reiterate again, I'm really not looking for porn. I tried reading Tropic of Capricorn because I consider myself a thorough deviant, but couldn't make it through the first chapter because of how explicit it was. I'm looking for booky shit.

The only correct answer is Donatien Alphonse François de Sade.
Read Justine, preferably the second or third version (3rd only adds Juliette's story).
Then read Philosophy in the bedroom. by then you will know better where you are headed.
>>
Jerzy Kosinski. The main characters of all his books are essentially the same reflection of an archetype. Dominance, control, manipulation are all constants, written with clinical detachment of even the cruelest events.
>>
>>7813689
I think it's a valid question and I, for one, shall also be hoping some half-decent recommendations follow. There's a derth of material written and succesfully published by Dominate men as opposed to Dominate women.

You're on the /lit/ board, and we're talking bondage-shit, so you've got this coming.

A single typo can be allowed to pass. Two, eh. Three, you need a grammar nazi to straighten you out.

The word that you meant to use, is "DEARTH". Not derth. That one isn't so bad. The next one is the important one.

It's the repetition of the later mistake that makes you look bad: multiple uses of "dominate", where instead you should have used "dominant". When you screw that one up, you make yourself look stupid. Intelligent men, thin women and fat women who know how to read all agree. Misuse of "dominate" for "dominant" is a /classic/ tell of a not-very-literate guy who wants into kinky shit.
>>
>>7817345
What?
It looks like a classic tell of English being his second language, if you ask me -- messing up a standard adjective suffix plus randomly capitalizing the word by some apparent internal logic?

That whom thinketh littlest smartassing mostest be, as the classic proverb goes.

I couldn't imagine undergoing that
