Hi! I recently read Plato and i wonder if there is some guide for reading most famous philosophers in order to understand references? Thanks in advance!

honestly just go chronologically
greeks > scholastics > enlightenment > modern >20th century
annoyingly subtle sarcastic and totally unhelpful remark

reply calling you a nasty name

If you need help with allusions, using the Stanford Encyclopedia for Philosophy will usually suffice. For companion readers (which are really useful if you're trying to get through really heavy philosophy, such as Kant's critiques), you'll probably be fine with whatever you stumble across. Just make sure the authors credible (i.e. a Prof, good publisher, etc).
You can also check out the History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps podcast.
just buy a copy that has notes/annotations in it

>For companion readers
Are the The Cambridge Companion to series good for it?
