Is this the logical conclusion to literature?
>>
I sure hope not, because that conclusion would be a tragically mediocre one.

richard zenith's book is alright, but you might want to read fernando pessoa first before making such a bold statement.

what
>>
>>7804246
Nah he's entirely right. It's incredibly uninteresting.
>>
>>7804249
Are you just memeing or is it legitimately a bad translation?
>>
>>7804210
How about you actually argue why it would or wouldn't be instead of making such a shitty post?
>>
>>7804253
He's saying translations don't count
>>
>>7804246

What does that even implies. That joke would only make sense if I was defending the book.
>>

I read part of the abridged version (like 230 pages instead of 500), and I couldn't read much of it. There's some very beautiful writing in there, it's just that it's uninteresting and depressing outside of that. Not enough substance there.
>>
Vivo
mais porque vivo maior.

>vivo mais porque vivo maior

What a backwards philosophy right there though
>>

Translation of that line? I'm a native speaker of Spanish, and I could understand the rest of the paragraph, but that's the only sentence that I cannot get.
>>
>>7804455

>I live more because I live bigger

or something like that
>>
>>7804455
I'm a native portuguese speaker and I don't get it either lmao

>>

>It's incredibly uninteresting.

That's a pretty ridiculous criticism to throw at this particular book. Of course it was uninteresting, that was an intentional literary device to convey how monotonous and mundane his life had become in that continual state of disassociated lethargy.
>>
>>7804286
>Vivo mais porque vivo maior

What's the meaning of "maior" here?
>>
>>7804516

He is trying to convey the idea of how his life turns "bigger" as he sees himself as a portrait of mankind. Even his weak voice has more meaning since it's the weak voice of thousands of people. He lives more because he lives something bigger, a character of human life.

bump because it's true

>logical conclusion
Supposing it is the conclusion, why is it a logical one? What distinguishes a logical conclusion from a conclusion? What sort of other conclusions might there be?
