Yes, it's truly to an eyesore to witness and quite depressing. 4chan is simply too popular, filled with too many idiots from the left and the right. People think they can use 4chan to shape consensus and now /lit/ is the innocent victim.
Imageboards are a superior format for discussion than reddit or traditional forums and we did have some great posters and threads, but now it's all getting lost. It's not about literature but about scoring political points.
The only way to save /lit/ is to migrate to a new chan, which explicitly distances itself from the likes of /pol/, /b/, etc.
It's not the anonymity so much as the culture which says 4chan is always a dumb website so shitposting is OK.
Memes need to die, for the sake of all humanity.
