Has anyone on here actually read Mein Kampf?

I thought it was rambling at times but truly a powerful work. I think that there is true artistic merit to a lot of "Nazi" literature that we in the west overlook.
>>
>read Mein Kampf in public
>people keep looking at you funny and calling you names

One old lady straight up asked me, "How could you read something like that?" but I was caught off guard and didn't know what to say, so I just went back to reading. Is there a good answer to that question?

You can't hide from reality. It's better to try understanding it than to hide from it.
>>
>>7776597
just say "know your enemy"
or
"if you want to prevent it from happening again, you have to know how it happened the first time"
>>
>>7776597
>Is there a good answer to that question?

Possible answers

>I'm interested in history
>I am interested in how much Germans knew about Hitler's plans
>It's for a university course
>I want to know what Trump is going to implement
>I want to learn how to write like a rambling retard dictating to his gay friend in a Munich prison cell
>>
>>7776597
"For historical perspective." But why are you reading it (let alone in public)?
>>
>>7776614

I'm reading it just because I thought it would be entertaining (not a nazi or anything close, but I just wanted to read it), and I'm only reading it in public, on the subway, because that's one of the few moments I have time to read.

This is the one book every edgy well read kid reads, and if you like it your taste is shit. I say this without making a commentary on your political opinions. It's rambling commentary, shit prose, and /pol/ tier arguments (Obama is the worst president. Why is that? What are you some kind of Jew lover) make it one of the worst manifestos. I enjoyed Elliot Rodger and the Unibombers way more, the Unibombers being frightfully logical.
>>
>>7776597
You could go with the smug fortune cookies option
'How could you not?'

Or histrionic historian option
'World War Two was one of the most important events in history, and you want me to pretend it didn't happen?'

Or semper fi eagle tears option
'Know thine enemy, ma'am'

Or the hateful sarcasm option
'Oh, gee, clearly there's no way I could EVER read something without agreeing completely with it and there's NO REASON to ever read books beyond reinforcing my current opinions'
>>
>>7776597
>Is there a good answer to that question?
just ask her why she isn't red pilled on the Hebrews
>>
>>7776623
You haven't even read the book and this
>(Obama is the worst president. Why is that? What are you some kind of Jew lover)
Is just embarrassing.
>(Mein Kampf is the worst book. Why is that? What are you some kind of edgy well read kid that use arguments like the obama-one to justifiy his political stance?)

I don't know if it's a great book but all the 'totally boring, terribly written, rambling, nonsense' comments you see repeated every time by people are not justified. I think whenever he talks about Judaism he starts to sound a bit like a conspiracy theorist, but he's perfectly lucid while discussing things like the German culture, or the plight of the poor. He's well within the normal German philosophical mindset of his time, I get the feeling the people who find Mein Kampf unreadable haven't read much of other stuff published around then in the country.

I think most people are just so memed that they bash it without reading it or can't read it with a sober mindset.

It's not exactly one of the great works of the 20th century, but it's not what people make it out to be. I had a Jewish professor once who said the book was just Hitler whining a lot, had to call him out on that.

Hitler wasn't whining, he was airing legitimate problems with Germany, he spoke to the concerns of the German people. He went wrong with his diagnosis of the origin of the troubles but Mein Kampf gives us a window into the political culture of interbellum Germany like no other work.

DeSade and Dostoyevsky could have that title too.

I actually think he was completely right about his assertions in relation to democracy.

For example, he states that one in every X (can't remember the actual figure) will essentially not be mentally strong enough to do what's right for their country, and will instead serve their own interests.

Another thing is his criticism of equality. Why should those who are inferior intellectually and mentally be raised to the same standard as those who are superior?

I'm thinking about getting that new Institut fur Zeitgescichte 'eternal guilt' version one. Anyone got that?

Buy a leather cover for it so that the name doesn't show. I doubt anyone would recognize it by the text itself, especially since they wouldn't be the ones reading it.

This. He sees the Jews in everything & goes on & on about them worse than corn.
