I think he DOES have some of his moments though, I can't remember any however... I used to read a lot of his stuff when I was growing up, its part of what got my into reading desu senpai.
Perhaps it was my age, or maybe he doesn't write anything that memorable. But I think most people would agree that the early Dark Tower mythos stuff was fairly interesting fantasy.
Yes it wasn't wholly original/creative, but it was a creative/original mixing and overlap of different genres.
I'd be interested, although having Idris Elba as Roland doesn't seem to make a lot of sense considering Odetta.
