I always see people on /lit/ talk like they've published a bunch, and it doesn't seem genuine
Who here on /lit/ is actually published? And sells well?
And who are you?

the people on /lit/ who've published tend to be people who've got a story snuck by some middling litmag editor
i've never seen anybody claim in any plausible way to be published in a selling-type way
(there are also some academics who have published books no one buys, but i think you're referring to fiction)

I've seen a bunch of people refer to their sleuth of best-selling books or whatever, and want to know if they're memeing, or there are actually best-selling authors who like to post on /lit/

They are meming of course.
I wrote a story in two days that sold for over 1200 which I donated to someone's medicial bills, the motive for the project. Then I wrote for 3 years on a huge critical work, poured my heart and soul into it, and after six months it has made about ... 260 dollars. But the cover is nice. So yeah.
