What books do you buy your friends when you're trying to get them into reading?
I've decided I'm going to be that friend that gifts books only for birthdays/christmas.
>Hemingway for the boy that wants to become a man
>Secret History for the girl just starting uni
>Prince of Thorns for the guy that thinks GoT is good
>inb4 penguin
Original beat up copy for reference
>friends

Trying to get your friends into reading seems pretty pointless

Please don't be that guy, I beg of you. Everyone will think you're either cheap or a snob. It won't end well for you. Trust me.

If through obligation, they read 1 or 2 good books a year I'll consider it a life well lived.

Yeah it is pretty edgy.
>Okay, I read about 15 pages and felt sick to my stomach. I can handle a war story/ violence, but is it going to be worth it? It was recommended to me, but I don't handle reading certain things well...i.e. violence against children, torture etc....needless to say the very beginning already has me second guessing if I should continue. Any advise would be great. To read or not to read?

Just give them a book voucher.
>friends

Can you tell me how you made those friends in the first place? I don't have any and I'm lonely.

He's taller than them and those whites are inbred. I don't think he's losing anything there.

I bought my sister The Hounds of the Baskervilles before a 24 hour flight to London.
I gave my friend who's never read a book before A copy of The Messenger by Markus Zusak because it uses simplistic language and form but is still a decent story that is set out interestingly

Mostly by organising events and inviting people.
