That's a good deconstruction of the Socratic method tbqh
>>
>>7746810
What she says in the first paragraph is mostly right though. People love being pandered too about how smart they are for reading books.

Most of the upvoted quotes on goodreads are about the author mentioning this in some way.
>>
>>7746779
Sometimes I find it hard to believe there are girls who aren't into that.

Do you have a round face and soft voice?
>>
Can someone explain the "plato" meme? does it have to do with the kurt cobain greentext?
>>
>>7746718
The Tunnel, which the person in who wrote the review did not understand at all.
>>
>>7746677
This sounds like a good read. What is it?
>>
>>7746841
>Do you have a round face and soft voice?
Im a dude, bro
>>
>>7746810
She's not wrong though. Her only mistake is not realizing that the all-male book group is that way because it makes alienated, bookish men (the book's target audience) feel comfy and special. She just failed to realize how that played into the same masturbatory themes she pointed out earlier.

Why ARE women so stupid?

Are they just dumber by default? Is it a lack of interest in becoming more intelligent? A built-in sense that they're already cool enough to have opinions, so there's no reason to refine them?

What is it? Why are women so awful?
>>
>I didn't quite finish it, actually, I got to page 165. But I was so revolted by what was evidently going to happen next that I refused to read further.

Guess the book and what happened.

Yeah, but probably not a very imposing one of you only think crazy girls like it rough.
>>
>>7746878
>>7746824
Her mistake is associating ideas with gender. This is obvious. It doesn't matter who wrote the fucking books. It's about what the books say.
>>
>>7746810
ignoring her post, F451 really is mostly dull and silly
>>
>>7746885
Gravity's Rainbow, coprophagia sequence?

>>7746881
Goodreads is a Reddit annex with a female-skewed user base. I wouldn't take it as a reflection on women in general.

Tee real question is how do members of the middle-class and lower live with themselves, being such cretins.
>>
>>7746891

Thats not what I said. And if you must know im a bearded bald space marine

The Tunnel by William Gass. Don't expect to understand it without supplementary materials--I didn't.

Can someone post an actual good one they have seen. I ask because i've never actually see one. I want to see if any of you anons can.

Yeah it's best not to take certain women on Goodreads seriously. Especially not as a reflection on the gender as a whole.

Everyone always posts negative reviews of books they like, but are there any positive but terrible and cringey reviews of books you like?
>>
>>7747259
Most of them.
>>
>>7747238
Two beautiful different types of stupid.
>>
Oh I am not the only one. I saw one user list almost every philosophical book I want to read in his library and sadly, I got to see some comments on other works of literature he supposedly read. I was flabbergasted.
I think it's safe enough to mention that the person, even after reading countless great books, failed at his epic attempt to look clever by saying Socrates wrote better books than the author he criticized.
Not only is that ridiculous as the books were of a completely different genre, but to not be aware that Socrates himself wrote nothing down is mind blowing.
>>
I think Russel is a huge faggot, and the book this is from isn't great, but, I am always reminded of what he says in the Plato summary of "The History of Western Philosophy". He says "a stupid man is always translating things into terms he understands", and that basically sums up a lot of the reviews you are going to read, especially on GR.
>>
>>7747274
Maybe he was saying that the book was so bad than even Socrates who wrote no books, had written better ones.
>>

>>
>>7747280
Well, it ain't easy to explain, but that book was written by a priest and it told the story of the people in the rural ares. It is not exactly a book for entertainment and it's certainly not supposed to be philosophical. Blaming authors for not writing like Socrates is downright crazy
>>
>>7746881
Men are stupid as fuck as well.
>>
>>7747250

And most importantly, you should never entertain ideas you do not agree with.
>>
>>7746579

Can't screenshoot, but I read one of Brief interviews with Hideous Men, where the reviewer scolded it for being pretentious try-hard pomo trash and lazy metatextuality parading as genuine cleverness.

She then hailed Octet as the greatest short story of the last quarter century.
