The Party started.

Mostly because Russia was one of the european countries where struggle for transition from feudalism to modernity was harder.
>>
>>7746455
It's not a European country at all, the only connection it has with Europe is that it was continually conquered or attacked by it up until it became a full-fledged civilization and could hold its own and attack back.
>>
That's a stupid picture. The last one should be Mormonism since the book "7 habits of highly effective people", the Bible of self-help books, is actually an application of MORMONISM. Covey was a Mormon and the self-help genre is full of Mormons.

Dante, Cavalcanti, Giotto, and other masters of the Renaissance were looking back, past strict Catholicism, to an early pre Constantine religion. These Early Christians were almost Hellenic. Recent finds such as the Nag Hammadi in 1945, where the Gospel of Thomas was unearthed, show that early Christianity was heavily influenced by Plato and the Presocratics. Most of the early Christian texts, in all their beauty and knowledge were burnt by the Catholic church in the 4th century. Ask yourself why Dante was a member of the Renaissance? it was a rediscovery of Classicism, a continuation of the Early Christians and Greeks. Hardly something the Catholic Church can claim for itself.

This image is made for stupid people that know nothing about religion to feel superior.

Not European at all.

Nice sermon brother, but we still need to set up that snack table. Also, try to be more, um, urban next time. We don't want people to think we're stuck in the middle ages, do we?
>>
>>7746484
>>7746488
It's a bit of stupid word really. The point is that the Russian Empire/the USSR/Russian Federation are in no coherent way a part of Europe. They are more self-enclosed than they are intertwined with the countries to the West of them. Or East for that matter.

Moscow represents a kind of regional nexus the same way something like Paris does for Western Europe. You may as well call the Ottoman Empire European.
>>
>>7746472
Actually, the early Church had rituals and a sacrificial mass that is much closer to Catholicism and Orthodoxy than contemporary Protestantism.
>>
>>7746472
>Dante was a member of the Renaissance
Does anybody really argue this? I could see him being a large influence on it but didn't he predate it by nearly a century?
>>
>>7746527
But they thought they could be European during the 19th century. That was what I tried to say.

I don't know, you can't look at the cultural or historical development of Russia and not include Europe.

Circle 8, Third Bolgia. Simonists. Has the famous part where a previous Pope shittalks Boniface VIII and Clement V and "predicts" their deaths and damnation.
>>

What? You know Fyodor was Russian right?
>>
>>7746798
Yes, I still didn't realise it was Orthodox. I've seen Catholics speak highly of it.

Because all their good authors were secretly black.

Why are protestants such memes in the 21st century? That is the real question my friend.
>>
>>7746809
They've been memes since the 1500s

Look the Protestants are huge faggots but calling Milton overrated is retarded. That anon is probably right about that although Shakespeare is another poossibility
>>

shakespeare was a crypto-catholic
>>
>>7746929
Not convinced about that to be sincere lass.
>>
>>7746929
meh. more likely shakespeare just wasn't that interested in the finer delineations/debate between protestanism and catholicism at the time. evidence is flimsy either way.

>inb4 sonnet 73 meme
>>
>>7746933
gee well if youre not convinced it must be wrong, fuck any serious shakespeare academic
>>
>>7746946
That's how I see it too.
>>
>>7746936
you're retarded, those debates were at the forefront of poetry and art at that time, just read donne or jonson. its ludicrous to say he just didn't give a shit because you want to keep him as a beloved olsteenite in your head
>>
>>7746929
He was under major influence of Catholicism, but we cannot say if he was one with much certainty.
>>7746873
I don't think you can call PL a Christian book in a way you can TBK or DC.
>>
>>7746952
not everyone is interested in every single ideological debate at the time. it's certainly possible shakespeare was a catholic but god knows the evidence is far from airtight.

wtf is an olsteenite?

>>7746946
