it's that, the scientific terminology that (although not that complicated) can wear on people without a background in that field, and the vast amount of episodes that (seem to) have nothing to do with the previous one.

It's not exactly a masterpiece but it's still pretty good. It's not that difficult to read if you keep focused and don't just let it set in as you would a novel written in plain style. And check out the wiki for things that go over your head
