No offense anon, but out of the 700+ books I've read, Infinite Jest does not crack the top 200. It's just a shitty pop culture book, that also happens long.
People only talk about it on 4chan because the guy killed himself and he was weird. And mostly because they are American, and there are no real good American authors that aren't fantasy memers like Gene Wolfe or Ursula Le Guinn. And liking fantasy on /lit/ is basically saying you're a booktuber with no taste. So they've painted themselves into a corner and are stuck with IJ.

They invariably end up disappointed.
It was just meant to be an autistically detailed and eclectic novel told in a unique fashion that expresses the author's views, and it succeeds.
