Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade is fantastic. Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony (which sets various excerpts from Leaves of Grass to music) is also very good.

As a musicpleb, I like Satie's Socrate a lot.

I never go to /mu/ but you're a fucking pleb if you think that classical music is somehow the most superior form of music.

Heh, I forgot how much I hate minimalism.

I never implied that. I pretty much listen exclusively to classical music these days but that's due to the fact that I'm minoring in Musicology.
There's some great popular music out there but you can't really analyze and talk about it the same way you can about many classical works.

>can't really analyze and talk about it the same way you can about many classical works.
I was refering to music theory btw.
You can spend hours doing harmonic, melodic or rhythmic analysis on a classical piece. You pretty much can't do that with popular music, simply becuase there isn't that much to work with.

Not art music, moron.

Classical music is a social construct designed by some reactionary journalist in the 19th century.
