God, the amount of sheer bitching from the illiterate uncultured women in my AP lit class baffles me. They interpret fucking everything as misogyny and rape. I remember we where reading a poem together, I forget the name, about a little black girl that was clearly expressing beauty of African American people and they interpreted it as a white man angry at lusting over a black girl and wanting to rape her, and the author was fucking black. They sit their and chat about Doctor who and Harry Potter, and took every chance possible to defend Edna from Kate Chopin's The Awakening. Grant it, my lit teacher is also female and I respect her because she is very good at what she does, but even she gets on my nerves for mentioning misogyny every chance she gets. Final year in highschool, is it like this in college too or am I going to have to live loathing my own sex forever fampai?
>>
>>7731685
If you live in North America college is even worse.
>>
>>7731631
Funny thing is I actually suggested to a teacher once that we read Lollita. It really caught him off guard and took him awhile to go "haha no, Nabokav is great but no". It was actually quite humorous, but Americans are pansies, the soccer moms would go ape shit. We didn't even get to read lord of the flies.

i graduated last spring from a small school in the northeast and this was not my experience at all. one of the most intelligent and reasonable professors i had was a self-described feminist. she had nuanced views and was always willing to respectfully engage with opposing viewpoints. the student body was definitely worse than the faculty in that regard, but even that was relegated to a handful of loud voices, and even they weren't extreme as the boogeymen you often see posted about on 4chan.
>>
>>7732156
It really does depend on the professor. I only had two professors who were tumblr-tier the others were a more relaxed about it. My Renascence lit professor was a Christian who kept quoting CS Lewis.

CS Lewis is a shit apologist btw
>>
Thoughts?
>>
>>7732216
This accurately reflects my experience as well. My University had a couple of shitty feminist professors that the tumblrites congregated around, but the rest of the department were pretty much badasses and would call out the loudmouths when they memed too hard with their SJW bullshit. Just do your research and register for classes with the good professors, ask upperclassmen who you respect for recommendations, and if you get stuck with a shitty professor for some terrible required class, just go with the program and tell them what they want to hear so you can get your A, and do the real work with the real professors who actually give a shit about education.

Using 'cuck' as an insult instead of its actual definition betrays your middle-class White American fears of cuckoldry being the highest level of shame. you should watch less porn, it's conditioned you to believe that the worst thing that can possibly happen to you is being cuckolded.

You are aware it used to be socially acceptable to murder a woman for doing this to you, correct?
This isn't a "Middle-class White American" thing, cuckoldry has pissed men of every culture off since the beginning of time.

He said that he was annoyed when a bunch of girls brought up misogyny even when there wasn't any misogyny in the reading.

The class fucking sucks most of the time. It's mostly girls and they essentially gossip about whatever we're reading. We're reading Kindred by Octavia Butler right now and I'm not even going to bother reading it. From what I've heard during gossip hour, it's shitty historical sci-fi.

About halfway in, and so far I think Crime And Punishment is better.

That aside, any recommendations? I made a thread some time back about how I couldn't figure out for the life of me how people read books like these without getting bored, but I've grown to appreciate them. After this, I'm reading Ulysses, and I was thinking about War And Peace and Anna Karenina, but I wouldn't mind a change of pace.

Fearing cuckoldry is a clear sign of feelings of inadequacy. One, in that one is unable to meet a certain standard. That much is obvious, a fear that you aren't manly enough. But on a deeper level, you have failed to imagine any standard where you have worth outside of mainstream masculine values. It's a weakness of the character that rots, deep down, no matter how successful a man is, because a cuck has already failed to assert himself on the most foundational level. They have accepted, and allegorically cuckolded themselves with, an ideology where they see themselves at the bottom.

Well my opinion is that people who practice S&M take some level of ownership of their insecurity as fetishes. It doesn't stop them from being emotionally affected by things like cuckoldry and S&M in general. But that can be a part of the thrill, right?

But anon's mention of fears of cuckoldry give no indication of ownership. What I was suggesting is that when a person feels no ownership of these fears, the person has put feelings of inadequacy upon themselves according to somebody else's standards. That to me is similar to the act of cuckoldry.

I'm reading Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun, lil sis! Apparently he's the culmination of all the brilliant writers since before the Greeks themselves! I'm really excited, I've already read most of it, but it hasn't gotten good yet, but most people say that it isn't good until the third or fourth read, so I'm just read it until I like it.
