What edgelord writer has the sharpest edge?

William H. Gass

"I write because I hate. A lot. Hard. I wish to make my hatred acceptable because my hatred is much of me, if not my best part."

An edge so sharp, tens of millions died. That'll teach them, for listening to the ideas of a basement dwelling underachiever.

This made me really want to read Gass now. Thanks for the recommendation

I mean, it's kind of true. But Gass' hatred is as sincere and warranted as Hitler's, not fake like a teenage fuck.

Do it, friend--join the army of Gass.

Ah, an em-dash--surely the hallmark of an aficionado with fine taste. It's been said that you cannot surpass the Gass, alas I've yet to amass the brass to tackle such class, I mean no sass to act with such crass, so I'll stop being an ass and halt my bypass of joining the mass in worship of Gass.

You'll be better for it, anon :)

I'm pretty sure that most of these are the wrong font anyway. Just go ahead and find something similar.

I don't mean to be an ass, but alas, I can't let this pass; crass is an adjective, not a noun.

this. if you didn't die in a shootout with the cops you're not an edgy writer.

burroughs easy
gay pedophile heroin addict who talked plenty of shit on the fellow writers he came up with and tried hard to distance himself from the movement he was associated

It's Sade, because he LOVES his repetition, his banality. All these others are trying for some sort of literary merit and not simply hate and pornography.
>>
>>7732581
>hate

you mean fun
>>
>>7732590

True.

Cioran is very human, and from what I've heard, Burroughs too. I don't know about the others.

But Sade joyously and actively destroys humanity, his own, his subjects. Even Hitler at times thought that what he was doing was right, in some abstract sense. Not so Sade. Here is a perfect edge.

Mrs Eaves for the titles, Linotype Sabon 10.5pt for the text.

I often get the idea Sade was laughing out loud while writing those sophistic dialogues about how nature actively wants us to fuck little boys to death in order to keep the ecosystem balanced and such.

There is some sort of justification there though, but it's ambivalent. On the one hand he praises pure edginess and going against any and all notion of virtue as if being edgy was his own reward for him, especially in Justine/Juliette/120 Days, but there's also a more moderate side to him shown in Philosophy in the Bedroom where he uses his work to incorporate a pamphlet about how the newly founded French Republic should strive towards sexual freedom in order to fulfil the search for liberty of its citizens and throw off the restrictive morals of the old regime. His ideas about state inspected brothels, orderly ways for people to live out their fantasies, even the emancipation of women to some degrees show another interesting side of Sade.

I think he thoroughly revelled in being as edgy as possible in his book, probably also as a way to 'avenge' or compensate for being locked up for most of his life and being unable to really live for the most part, but there's also a more reasonable and pragmatic side to him.

i only find one german translated book from him "the tunnel" doesn't really sound interesting.
what book should i read ?

>gay pedophile heroin addict who talked plenty of shit on the fellow writers he came up with and tried hard to distance himself from the movement he was associated

why does that make him an edgelord? The dude wrote about eating drugs and fucking kids butts because he actually liked and did those things, not because it was transgressive to write about them.

Burroughs is a very non-edgy writer. It's just idiots who read his shit without thinking about it that think he is an edgelord.
>>
>>7733334
Omensetter's Luck, duh. It's his best work.
>>
>>7733334
Though it sounds boring, I highly recommend you read The Tunnel, but if you are set against it, I suggest Omensetter's Luck or Middle C.
