What should I read before getting into Camus?
Camus.
A better idea would be to not read Camus haha

Why so?
>>7726763
He's a real negative Nancy. Won't encourage good feelings at all.
>>7726750
nothing really just go for it
>>7726750
Camus is the entry tier. But I suppose you could read Nietzsche and realize how sterile Nietzsche-lite actually is. Existentialism is just for people not edgy enough to read Nietzsche.
>>7726750
Nothing, he's very accessible.
>>7726799
The Stranger
and then probably Myth of Sisyphus

thanks, anon
>>7726819
np buddy
>>7726750
Nothing, he's not a particularly deep philosopher in terms of having a rich collection of thinkers informing him.
He's akin to Nietzsche but doesn't really say anything new, just provides new perspectives to the same general ideas.
He's an entertaining thinker but like most after Nietzsche, tends to feel empty.
>>7726771
how dumb must you be to get such a simple philosopher so totally wrong.
I don't really understand why people like Camus
>>7726750
As a philosopher, he's a minor thinker. As a writer is pretty decent. Just read him.
Start with the Greeks.
>>7726750
But there's nothing to "get into"
>>7726894
Agreed. Don't think he's a sad sack at all.
>>7726894
He (like Dostoyevsky) is misinterpreted by many and as such Edge lords have given him a bad name. That said, he was only a decent writer.
>>7726750
just the people he references alot
prob brush up on some greek mythology, kafka, nietzsche, goethe, and some french history.
also look up french-algerian relations
>>7726785
I think it's less that they're not edgy enough and more that they're too dumb and/or lazy to commit to reading Nietzsche. He has an entertaining writing style but actually understanding his thoughts takes a lot more work than most people are willing to put in.

What a dumb dumb
The Fall is better than The Plague right?
