Is Allen Ginsberg the best American poet of the late 20th century? Even if some of the politics are dated, and his more sexual poems are cringey, the great body of his work describes the time he was living in. He had a great ability to take a mental picture and put it on paper.

No he was a fat pedo jew gay hack who never produced anything of quality beyond shocking people

Kind of like gg allin but less entertaining
>>
Ginsberg saved American poetry from being uniformly shite.

Now it's just mostly shite.

I hate his politics, I think he was a really creepy faggot and an all around disgusting person. But his was a really great poet.

>I kinda like that
Can't cuck the Buck
>>
I'm OP. I enjoy most of his work, though I particularly like his travel poems.

Cleveland, The Flats

Triple towers smokestacked steaming in blue nite
buildings in water, the shimmer of that
factory in the blackness
a little tinkle RR engine bell
See the orange bedroom shack
under the viaduct
criscrossed with 1930s raindrops Tragedies
extrapolating railroads overhead --
Asphalt road bumps --
that blue flame burning? Industry!
Bom! Bom! Mahadev! Microphone Icecream!
Battle Conditions! Come in Towers!
Buster Keaton died today, folksongs in the iron smell
of Republic Steel, hish -- !

His use of imagery is pretty amazing.

This.

Just think on how pathetic someone like Ginsberg is: the guy was ugly, untalented, a weak faggot: a complete piece of crap. One feels sick only by looking at his face. Now think about Tolstoy, for example: he was an egotistic nobleman who not only thought that he was better than others by birth, but also force the world to acknowledge this by creating some of the greatest works of art of human history; he fought in battles and won medals for courage; he fucked lots of women (serfs, prostitutes and Cossack girls); party hard on his youth years but managed to become a great patriarch and responsible family man; and, more important than all of this, he actually was a supreme artist, one of the greatest man of letters of all time.

Just look at his face and compare to Ginsberg. One looks like a confuse toad who was captured under a rock and wrapped up in a suit; the other looks like a confident egocentric with falcon eyes who knew very well he could obtain greatness in the things he was really interested.

It even looks like they are from different species of animals. People like Ginsberg are pathetic and make me nauseous: they are not only weak in life, but also masturbatory losers on they’re “art”. If you are not strong, don’t even bother: you are not build to travel the complete distance, the full road. The muses of art despise weak people.

he literally wrote the same poem over and over again and you millennials eat it up like so much slop poured into your trough.
>>
Pretty sure John Ashbery is, OP, who is also gay, but not a pedo, thankfully.

I've not read his work. Not yet anyway. Maybe I should look into it. Though I doubt he's as revolutionary as Ginsberg.
>>
>>7722925
I'd most likely spit in your face if I ever met you in real life. you're revolting
>>
>>7722871
This is awful though?
>>
Howl is a great poem. You've got to be pretty dumb not to understand that.
>>
He cucked Whitman's voice and applied it to his milieu. I agree with Ashbery bro, although Robert Creeley is a contender as well.
>>
>>7722963

What is awful about it?
>>
>>7722925
that dang /pol/ at it again why oh why won't they just respect pedophilia
>>
>>7723009
I'm going to write an article for salon.com about it.
>>
Let's be real for a moment: the LGBT community is ABSOLUTELY more accepting of pedophilia than is normie society, and it's kind of mind-blowing that that's apparently a controversial statement.
>>
>>7722751
>Literally a gay pedophile and a (SPOILERS) jew
Kill yourself :DDD
>>
>>7723036
This is true.

There's even a term for the fact that you're basically celibate after you've turned 30. And you're pretty much expected to fuck like a pornstar at 13.

he fronted like he was christian in his poems tho lil bitch trying to play both sides
>>
>>7723185

When did Ginsberg ever write like a Christian? His whole career was about Buddhism, gay sex and left-wing politics.
>>
This image makes me want to vomit. He looks like the guy with worms from Hogg.
>>
>>7723371
bullshit my nig there are plenty of places where he speaks as a christian in first person to confuse plebs
>>
>>7722751

I had this beat biography in high school and there's an excerpt whete he mentions that Brautigan was shit and he was a superior writer, which tipped me off to immediately disregard his opinion.
>>
>>7722871
Agree with the other anon
This poem is shit along with all of Ginsberg's poems
Fuck that guy
>>
>>7722978
It's cringe-inducing
>>
>>7722871
>that blue flame burning? Industry!
>Bom! Bom! Mahadev! Microphone Icecream!

*holds up spork*
>>
>>7722871
I like it
>>
>>7722751
he's fucking bad imo
>>
>>7722804
This was nice, I like the way he reads it.
>>
People like bandwagoning hate wagons. If anyone here claims to be able to write better then they should do so.

Bloom calls him a great and that is good enough for me.
>>
>>7723578
it's an allusion to the Bhagavad Gita you illiterate
>>

But more importantly, an ice cream cone does look kind of like a microphone.
