I'm trying to remember a word, it is a word I have seen only once and given that I've been trying to remember for years, it might well have been the first and the last. It's a term for entering one's mind in a metacognitive sense, as though its workings, elements, and (abstracted) machinery can be represented as a physical pace to walk around and interact with. The word was biased towards using this... framework as a way of unearthing things, resolving problems, or reworking how the mind functions to afford rapid learning or whatever. The proxy one uses to insert themselves into this world varies.

I was surprised there existed an English word for this, and it wrapped up all of the above perfectly. Does anyone know?
