who else /reading anxiety / here

>tfw it just took me 40 minutes to read 16 pages because I'm constantly recomprehending and revalidating what's in front of me.
I also have OCD so that might be a major contributing factor. Ironically, I'm reading a book that tries to help in pushing aside non-sensical thoughts.
>>
Nothing like that happens to me anymore, but a problem I do have is trying to read with out subvocalizing for a couple of pages and then having to go back and reread it all since I didn't pick pick up a single word.
>>
>>7713375
How'd you get over it? Just by practicing reading?

The reason I'm not a big reader (for you) is precisely because whenever I try I get anxious over my inability to actually read in a constant flow.
>>
I used to do that.
Just stop.
Pick an easy book you don't care too much for and read it without ever rereading a sentence.

I had OCD over the chance that I may be homosexual for two years and it was literally a living nightmare. I was imprisoned to my own brain. Reading anxiety is nothing.
>>

I've had derealization anxiety for a little while. Worst feeling ever desu.

I've come to learn that anxiety is inherently bullshit, but for some reason my mind always defaults to this primitive fight-or-flight shit.
>>
>>7713380
I don't know what stopped it. I think I just out grew it.

I had real problems as a kid. I had to touch everything with both hands or I felt overwhelmed and got extreme anxiety. This was always a problem when teachers would make kids line up because if I accidentally brushed up against the wall I would just run out of line to go and brush up against the wall with my other one.

I also would read a book from the beginning ever single time. This was really hard for me, but I couldn't go on if I had not read everything before it in order.
I couldn't let my finger prints go on anything and I always had a cleaning rag with me to clean up anything I touched with my finger tips (but only after I touched it with the same finger on the other hand).

I won't bore you with anymore details. I was never officially diagnosed with OCD so maybe I was just a werido with out a good excuse, but like I said, I just kind of out grew it. I still feel a bit of anxiety about not doing some of these things, but it is to a point where I can easily ignore it.

I feel like time moves so quickly when I read that I don't want to read because I only have very limited free time
>>
>>7713456
Time passes very slowly when I read which puts me off.
>>
>>7713454
do you also feel like you haven't actually absorbed/comprehended the information you just read? I backtrack so many times and get further anxiety when I can't recall things I've read a paragraph ago.
>>
I read extremely slowly because I'm always going back and reading sentences or entire pages. I also highlight a lot of sentences and write notes next to the text
The only people who worry about how fast they're reading are people who want to read books just to say they've read them

That piercing is disgusting.
I hate seeing otherwise beautiful women desecrate their bodies with shit like that.

I've had infallible intergalactic anxiety that was so bad that you could never even conceive of an anxiety disorder that trumps it.

here's a hint: it's meant to be disgusting. people get tattoos and piercings to weed people out. it's like an anti-cuckservative device

I re-read if I really fuck up, but I can't slow down. I always keep in the back of my mind that we all have a total book count that we reach. Even if you read like 10 hours every day you are still quite limited to human knowledge. I'd rather misread a couple of pages per book than fuck my knowledge gains.
>>
I have OCD, usually it's the last sentence of a paragraph that I have trouble comprehending or 'putting to rest'.
>>
who gives a shit how long it takes to read? Do you want to fucking understand what you've read? What do you even have better to do honestly, play LoL or get pussy? Come on bro
>>
>>7713356
What are you reading?
>>
>>7715130
Not op but here's what im reading and i spent like 2.5 hours last night on the first 30 pages of "the myth of sisyphus" by camus and in the end had no idea wtf he was talking about so i plan to restart again today.

Try this: quit being pathetic and learn to cope with your own mind.

Well, it's not that bad.
It takes me more than 2 hours to read 16 pages.

Did you get over it by finally acknowledging your homosexuality?
>>
>>7718053
I thought I could have been in denial or something, so I tried accepting I was gay and trying to wank to gay porn but I couldn't get it up.

Now that I'm over it I've discovered I'm bi, but only for feminine twinks.
