You can be the biggest ancap or whatever and Ayn Rand is still terrible.
>>
>>7702192
This.

Did she write in English? Either the translation I was reading is absolutely terrible or she should have been writing in Russian.
>>
>>7702184

This.

The "I'm just going to call your opinion/ taste immature, something only a teenage would say/like, and something that you'll get over when you mature" argument is really ironically unironic in an ironic way.

Do the people who say this shit seriously not see it?????

>ironically unironic

That's pretty much the height of redundancy right there. That phrase cancels itself out. "hurr look at me guise how many times can I say ironic am I quirky yet xD"
>>
>implying you agree with a philosophy book you read.
>implying everyone should not read the most dominant socioeconomic philosophy of capitalism for the last 70 years

I feel like the type of people who poopoo rand would ask what is the point of reading spinoza
>>

This post was the height of redundancy. Or maybe just dunce.
It's even ironic

Yea, usually the case, it just happens to be absolutely true with Ayn Rand. :3

I think generally Ayn Rand is a YA author but its a joke anyway poking fun that most of the fans are young.

She wrote in English. Even without translation meming, she's terrible. It's not just the prose that's bad. The entire book is one long tirade spread out over different characters/mouthpieces. Her characters are cut-outs. Her plot reads like a thriller. She doesn't even try to obscure her ideology. The book ends with a 60-page monologue recap of itself.
>>
>>7702225
m90, even the capitalists are laughing at you if you think this.
>>
>>7702664
I have a soft spot for The Fountainhead but her prose is fucking terrible and her ideology can be summarized by saying she was an expat who was so butthurt about communism that she wrote long, autistic treatises on romantic individualism and egoism. Realizing communism is shit is fine but she went full autist. She is like someone who read Stirner and just didn't get it.

I also find it hilarious that she was good friends with Nabokov's younger sister and would spend time in their mansion when Nabokov was a huge suppprter of the monarchy.

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle

Of course this quote does not pertain to neoliberals who seek to censor and shame anyone who even dares touching another philosophy.

They are scum. Every last one of them. Subhuman filth.

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture

She considers herself both a novelist and a philosopher equally, but her novels just prop up her philosophy, and her philosophy is terrible.
The woman made it abundantly clear throughout her career that her philosophy came "out of her own mind", and wasn't based on the work of any of her priors. IMO this was a nice aesthetic touch, since it aligned her thought process with her view of the ideal form of capitalism. It meant, however, that all of her arguments are predated by their own rebuttals. Absolute shit.

So correct that it's not clever. Rand is such a common adolescent phase that making fun of it is, "punching down," and therefore bad comedy.
