Without passion to motivate you're left serving some public or social end and the only things you end up doing for yourself is the minimums your nature calls for : food, sleep, exercise
But what about an individuals dreams and desires for become someone important or artistic or to find financial success? To move up the social ladder?
Stoicism is for the ruling class who have the power and wealth to do evil or corrupted things when their irrational passions strike or good and constructive things when they follow what is in the interest of a greater or social good
